Silencions is implementing project no. FEDS.01.02-IP.01-0021/24 titled “Design and Manufacture of Spiral Metamaterial Mufflers for Industrial Noise Reduction”, co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Lower Silesia 2021–2027 programme.
The project involves the development of an acoustic metamaterial muffler with a modifiable operating range, intended for use in industrial applications, construction, and HVAC systems.
The project will fund industrial research and experimental development work. It will include the use of advanced technologies based on metamaterials, computer optimization, prototyping using additive manufacturing methods, the development of computer models, acoustic and CFD simulations, as well as prototyping and measurements.
The final outcome will be a modular metamaterial muffler, whose operating range and effectiveness can be tailored to customer requirements already at the production stage.
The developed metamaterial muffler addresses the urgent need to reduce noise, which negatively affects people’s comfort, health, and work efficiency. Effective noise reduction can significantly improve quality of life and day-to-day societal functioning.
The detailed objectives of the project include strengthening research capabilities through the development of modeling methods, conducting numerical simulations and acoustic measurements of innovative metamaterial mufflers both with and without forced airflow. The ultimate goal is to develop an innovative product in the form of a modular metamaterial muffler with a customizable operating range and performance.
The solution developed within the project will continuously enhance the Applicant’s competitiveness on both domestic and global markets.
